Netizens hate the Seohyun – Yonghwa pairing?

We previously reported that SNSD’s Seohyun and CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa will be on MBC’s “We Got Married” as a new couple. But surprisingly, I’m not the only one making a huge deal out of this this new couple is already drawing concern from netizens.

With CNBLUE being involved in a lot of controversy lately, from plagiarism to their manager assaulting a fan, some netizens have questioned whether Jung Yonghwa should be on variety shows anymore. Netizens expressed, “Jung Yonghwa is always quiet. This is irrational,” and “He should have stopped at dramas (You’re Beautiful).”

On Seohyun being cast, netizens said, “She has only just graduated from high school and “marrying” at such a young age might give the wrong impression to some people,” and “This is a risky move for the ratings.”

Another thing brought up by netizens is Seohyun’s preference of sweet potatoes to boys! Reactions such as, “I’m completely against this marriage,” and “Rather than this, get married with a sweet potato instead,” have cropped up.

Of course, without a single episode having aired yet, Seohyun’s good image could calm down the raging netizens. On the other hand, not all netizens of the same opinion, some said, “At least watch the first episode.” and “These reactions are uncalled for this early when it hasn’t even aired.”

The “We Got Married” message boards have been flooded with these comments over this already controversial new couple.

So what do you think? Is it fair for netizens to disapprove of this marriage before it’s even begun? Are their reasons legitimate? Let us know in the comments.

SHINee’s Key names fruits in English

As many fans know, SHINee recently took a trip to Hong Kong to celebrate Lunar New Year’s overseas. On February 13, the boys visited Tuen Mun Town Plaza for a New Year’s Countdown event, playing a few games with fans and also performing Replay, Ring Ding Dong & JoJo.

Much to many fans’ delight, Key played a balloon game in which he had to name as many fruits off the top of his head… in English.

On top of Key’s English quiz, SHINee also learned a bit of Cantonese; Onew even got tested on various Chinese phrases during the balloon game:

Getting to see Korean celebrities attempt to speak other languages, especially English, is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the kpop fandom. I didn’t have a favorite SHINee member before I watched these clips, but Key definitely won me over with his adorable English!

2PM’s hearts beat for SNSD

2PM’s Junsu and Junho have revealed that there are SNSD members who make their hearts beat.

On the 16th, 2PM had starred as guests for KBS2 TV’s Win Win. During the ‘Speedy Questions’ corner, 2PM was asked which girl group they liked better, Wonder Girls or SNSD. To this question, both Junsu and Junho chose SNSD. I wonder how Taeyeon, who is an assistant MC on this show, reacted to that!

It has been reported that Junsu had answered the question right away without hesitation. The other 2PM members were supposedly unsurprised by Junsu’s answer, because they were already aware that a certain SNSD member was making Junsu’s heart flutter.

Junho has also betrayed his fellow JYPE family members and stated, “I chose SNSD because there is a member I thought was cute while watching a show.”

The other four members, Taecyeon, Nichkhun, Wooyoung and Chansung presumably chose the Wonder Girls.

So, which SNSD members do you think stole our 2PM boys’ hearts?

TVXQ’s Yunho saved Solbi from drowning

Singer and talent Solbi chose TVXQ’s Yunho as the best man in a recent episode of MBC’s Come to Play.

Solbi talked about a time in which she almost drowned while filming a show. She said, “I was a rookie back then that had just debuted. Yunho was the first one to come and lend me a hand when I fell. It was a short gesture but it made me realize a lot. He didn’t even know me … I was very touched.”

Jewelry’s Eunjung also added, “Yunho is kind-hearted so he helps the poor and volunteers a lot.”

Meanwhile, Solbi also revealed the story behind her previous composer boyfriend.

All you TVXQ fans, be sure to catch this episode and watch the girls compliment Yunho.

2PM’s Wooyoung shed tears as a trainee

On a recent recording of KBS2 TV’s Win Win, 2PM’s Wooyoung confessed that he often cried during his trainee days.

This was 2PM’s first appearance on a talk show since their debut. They explained their group story, from the very beginning to today, in which they are respected as one of the most popular idol bands in Korea.

What brought most interest was a story about their pre-debut days. When the members received the song Only You from JYP, all of them had troubles, especially Wooyoung. He said, “I practiced very hard with little sleep, but even with all that work, I was lacking in Park Jin Young’s eyes. I was getting scolded every day. One time, I was on the piano by myself to work on my pitch, and suddenly, I burst into tears.”

The other members then said, “To make Wooyoung feel better, we bought him ice cream. After we gave it to him, he quickly returned to his normal self.”

Although JYP’s treatment may seem harsh, this was likely done to bring out their hidden potential. After all, it’s commonly known that idol life isn’t all about glamour, and is instead a product of blood, sweat and tears. It’s good to see that all of that hard work paid off!

MBLAQ, Yoon Eun Hye, f(x), Park Shin Hye & more go pink for Vogue Girl

ashion magazine Vogue Girl has gathered up some of Korea’s hottest celebrities for their Pink Wings campaign.

The Pink Wings campaign is basically an event in which stars dress up in limited edition clothing; the profits from the sales then go towards scholarships and spending funds for females in need.

The following brands took part in this campaign: Lancome, MAC, Make Up For Ever, Clinque, Jill by Jill Stuart, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Juicy Couture.

Idol group MBLAQ will be promoting this event by holding a fanmeeting on the 17th, and actress Yoon Eun Hye will follow suit on the 18th.

Participating celebrities for the Pink Wings campaign were reported stating:

“I hope that the females who receive the donations will realize that there are a lot of warm people in the world, and hold greater hopes for their lives.”Yoon Eun Hye

“I think younger people have gained more interest in donating from the aftermath of Haiti. I hope that the heartfelt people that are donating will continue through Pink Wings and beyond.”f(x) Sulli

“As we grow, we have to [be active] in donation and community service. We believe that’s a positive thing to show to our fans.”MBLAQ

“I have performed community service for Habitat for Humanity [an organization] and Bappuh; through these experiences, I have learned that, when small people join together, they can become one big heart. I hope a lot more people can become happier through the Pink Wings campaign.”Park Shin Hye

The Pink Wings photoshoot will appear in Vogue Girl’s March issue through an 80-page spread, and a behind-the-scenes footage clip will appear through the channel On Style’s Style Magazine on the 19th.

2PM, 2AM, CNBLUE & MBLAQ to host M! Countdown

Mnet M! Countdown’s comeback has been catching a number of people’s attention, but this will definitely get your attention: it’s been confirmed that members from kpop’s hottest groups, 2AM, 2PM, CNBLUE and MBLAQ will be hosting this music show!

Starting on February 18, M! Countdown will feature 2PM’s Nichkhun, Junho & Chansung, 2AM’s Jo Kwon & Jinwoon, CNBLUE’s Min Hyuk and MBLAQ’s Lee Joon & G.O, dubbed the “MCD GUYZ (엠씨디 가이즈)”… talk about testosterone overdose!

Mnet will implement a rotation system in which a combination of three or four MCs will be featured each episode, taking a step away from the fixed duo-trio system that we see on other shows. This distinct approach undoubtedly creates a unique stage system that will be anticipated by its audience.

CP Kim Giung said,

“These 8 guys represent and are icons of Korea’s music industry in the 20th century … Advocating a global music show (mnet is going to be broadcast globally), we thought that these MC’s would be able to make our domestic music industry a hot trend by being accurate and quick on their feet.”

The February 18 broadcast will also feature a special MC performance stage with all eight members, which is already highly anticipated; this episode is expected to be overwhelmed with viewers.

Furthermore, the “Icons of the 20th Century” had a photoshoot in early February for the fashion magazine Singles. The shoot took up fourteen pages of the eight idols and included a funny interview. The Singles issue will be released on the 19th, a day after M!Countdown’s first broadcast on the 18th.

Who’s ready to see these eight idols converge on one stage this Thursday? It’s great to know that this isn’t just an epic collaboration, but one of many to come.

CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa and SNSD’s Seohyun become new We Got Married couple!

It’s official! CNBLUE’s leader Jung Yong Hwa and SNSD’s maknae Seohyun have been cast in MBC’s We Got Married as the show’s newest virtually married couple!

Despite the ongoing schedules that both youngsters have with their hit songs, I’m a Loner and Oh!, Jung Yong Hwa and Seohyun have already gone through the test filming at Ilsan Kyung Ki Do on the 12nd; their first episode is scheduled to be broadcast next month. Following the footsteps Jo Kwon and Ga-In, they will be the second idol-x-idol couple for We Got Married Season 2.

Will these two loving birds defeat the infamous Jo Kwon – Ga-In wave? I guess we’ll just have to sit tight!

SNSD’s Seohyun hates the lyrics to Oh!?

For those of us who know SNSD’s / Girls’ Generation’s maknae Seohyun, it doesn’t come as much of surprise that she doesn’t like the lyrics to the groups new title track Oh! With her well publicized adversity to boys, all of those love confessions written into the lyrics of Oh! surely must have caused her some discomfort.

On a recent recording of the popular new talk show Strong Heart, Seohyun opened up and confessed, “The part where the lyrics go ‘Oppa I love you’ was really difficult for me to record. … No matter how much I practiced, when it came time to record, I couldn’t sing it!”

After letting out a sigh Seohyun said, “The lyrics were just so embarrassing that I couldn’t do it at all.”

After revealing all this, of course MC Kang Ho Dong had to ask Seohyun to sing Oh! for him. Seohyun’s response?

She let out another sigh, causing everyone in the studio to laugh at the cute and innocent maknae. In response, member Sooyoung said, “On the other hand, I was told to be as embarrassing as possible!”

The members all had a good time recording the show. Each of them showed off a cute expression and attempted to imitate each other.

The show will be broadcast on February 16th.

Super Junior jacks Lyle Beniga?

Yesterday, you saw the boys of Super Junior dancing on MBC’s Star Dance Battle and it seems the choreography was stolen from Lyle Beniga’s “Mic Check” routine. Here’s a re-tweet by Lyle on his twitter:

If you don’t know, Lyle Beniga is a pretty famous choreographer and he’s worked with Shaun Evaristo for Big Bang’s Taeyang in the past.

It seems he’s not too angry and is cool about the whole issue. Check out the 2 performances below and you can compare the two yourself.

Wonder Girls open Justin Bieber’s concert in LA

As we earlier reported, the Wonder Girls got themselves a gig with virally popular singer Justin Bieber with plans to open Bieber’s February 14 show in Los Angeles with –what else?– a performance of Nobody.

Aside from POPCON on February 20 with Sean Kingston, Selena Gomez and many others, this is believed to be member Sunmi’s last performance with the Wonder Girls, at least for the foreseeable future.

Watch the Hollywood Palladium performance here:

Just like the old days at the Jonas Brothers tour, JYPE distributed promotional flyers for the Wonder Girls to concert attendees. The Wonder Girls definitely brightened up the concert with their infectious track and bright personalities; it’s good to see their positive attitude despite Sunmi’s upcoming departure. Good luck to these girls!

Full version of TVXQ’s With All My Heart

Last week we shared the preview of With All My Heart, a new track from TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki’s upcoming Best Selection 2010 album.

The song is so beautiful and is nearly 6 minutes long! Thanks to everyone who sent this in and check it out below.

Star dance battles :D

Star Dance Battle Round 1: MBLAQ vs. Rainbow

in celebration of Lunar New Year, MBC held a Star Dance Battle between the Wang team – consisting of MBLAQ, T-ara, Yoo Chae Young, Kim Na Young, Jo Hye Ryun, Kim Shin Young and 2PM – and the Shin team – consisting of Rainbow, BEAST, Kim Jong Min, Chun Myung Hoon, Noh Yoo Min, SNSD, Shin Bong Seon and Super Junior.

Round 1 was between rookie male group MBLAQ and rookie female group Rainbow.

MBLAQ opened the show with a power dance to Michael Jackson’s 2000 Watt using neon ropes as props. In a sudden change of music, Hwang Jung Eum appeared on to the stage and performed to the butt-shaking hit that is Kara’s Mister. Not only did the boys flaunt their acrobatic skills with the former half of the performance, but they revealed a cute and bubbly side of them with the latter half. Unfortunately, leader Seungho wasn’t present for the show.

On the other hand, Rainbow was coordinated in black outfits and boots, gyrating their hips and kicking their legs to Beyonce’s Single Ladies. They were later joined by Jung Juri, who startled everyone with her dancing ability. Of course, she went a little over the top in the end, but it only induced more laughs from the viewers and made for better entertainment.

Star Dance Battle Round 2: T-ara vs. BEAST

Round 2 was held between five members of T-ara (Jiyeon was absent) and BEAST (Doojoon was absent).

T-ara commanded the stage with the upbeat and addictive tune of D.I.S.C.O. Coordinated in futuristic outfits and blonde wigs, the sexy ladies transformed into Uhm Jung Hwa’s clones while leader Eunjung assumed the role of the featured rapper. Eunjung took the audience by surprise as everything from her slicked hair to her charismatic rapping bore a striking resemblance to T.O.P. himself.

BEAST delivered an equally entertaining show as they danced to Omarion’s Icebox in black hoodies. Their smooth and synchronized dancing definitely sent chills down my spine. Transitioning to a more upbeat track, BEAST flaunted their skills in footwork and popping alike. From the looks of the audience, they seemed to be enjoying the beastly performance as well.

Star Dance Battle Round 4: After School vs. SNSD

n celebration of Lunar New Year, MBC held a Star Dance Battle between the Wang team – consisting of MBLAQ, T-ara, Yoo Chae Young, Kim Na Young, Jo Hye Ryun, Kim Shin Young and 2PM – and the Shin team – consisting of Rainbow, BEAST, Kim Jong Min, Chun Myung Hoon, Noh Yoo Min, SNSD, Shin Bong Seon and Super Junior.

Round 4 was between dancing divas After School and glamorous genies SNSD.

Unlike the other performance, After School’s performance revolved around a theme of seven school girls in classroom. Unable to contain their need to groove, they initiated a cute dance to Lil Mama’s Lip Gloss. As the music changed to Chris Brown’s Wall-to-Wall, so, too, did the choreography. The dancing divas truly lived up to their title as their dance transitioned into that of a powerful and fierce one. Leader Kahi’s abs flash definitely drove the crowd wild as well. Maintaining their stage persona until the very end of the performance, the girls hurried back to their seats with the sound of the bell.

As the nation’s most popular female idol group, SNSD was expected to uphold their end of the battle as well. Gracing the stage in red glittery attire, Hyoyeon, Seohyun, Yoona and Sooyoung maintained great energy on stage that you just couldn’t pry your eyes away from. For obvious reasons, Hyoyeon held down the performance with her solo, her moves matching perfectly to the rhythm of the beat. In addition, Seohyun showed a side of her that was completely different from the innocent image she has always been portraying. Who knew the maknae could move like that?

The judges have spoken and the winner is…

Star Dance Battle Round 6: 2PM vs. Super Junior

Round 6 was between beastly idols 2PM and SME seniors Super Junior.

Matching white tuxedos and fedoras, 2PM began a nosebleed-inducing, faint-worthy performance to Chris Brown’s Take You Down. The female audience watched wide-eyed as the quintet seduced them with body waves and pelvic hip thrusts. The music picked up with Pitbull’s Bojangles and 2PM was able to convey the beastly side of them that they are so loved and adored for. Taecyeon needs to tone it down with the shirt-ripping though, because he it is getting a bit overrated.

Inspired by Jabbawockeez’s masks and dancing, Super Junior began their performance dancing to a lonely violin instrumental. The dance picked up at the end when the five members tossed their jackets on the ground. As always, Super Junior added a dash of humor into their choreography as they re-enacted a slow-mo of a track race. Most of all, people were impressed with Kyuhyun’s dancing as they doubted before that he could keep up with a dance with that much intensity.

The judges have spoken and the winner is
